Went to Goshen College, got a degree in English, Secondary Education. Worked at the Boys and Girls Club in Goshen as Teen Services Director for 1.5 year. Got burned out and went to work for MapleNet, as a tower technician. Discovered a great fondness for working outdoors, and no fear of heights. Became addicted to Ultimate Frisbee. Played in tournaments in 12 different states, including 2 trips to Sarasota, Florida, for the national championships. Yes, there are national championships. Yes, it is a real sport. No, there are no dogs, and you don't need to have long hair and smoke pot to play. Moved to Champaign-Urbana, IL, because of a relationship. Started substitute teaching, culminating in a semester-long job covering for a maternity leave. Discovered that while rewarding in some ways, full-time teaching made me unhappy in more ways. After finishing the semester, with memories of stacks of seniors' 12 page research papers to grade fresh in my mind, decided not to pursue a teaching job, and instead got a job working for a tree service, trimming and cutting down trees. There you have it: the stereotypical English major turned lumberjack story. Such a cliche.--- Since I wrote the above entry, a bit of stuff has happened: the relationship ended(amicably) and I moved to Chicago. I work for The Care of Trees, and am on my way to becoming an arborist. I am a likely attendee at the reunion.---Ok, it's 2007, and I quit the tree biz. I'm in my last semester of grad school; I'm getting a Masters in Library and Information Science. I work full-time as a children's librarian, and serve on the board of the student association at school (http://dulissa.wordpress.com). I'm super-busy, but am definitely enjoying life.
