It's time for our 5 year high school reunion. Reunions: Hate them or love them, we have tried to design this one with as much flexibility and as little awkwardness as possible. No name tags, fancy restaurants, or gaudy decorated gyms. (Which also means less planning needed by your class cabinet). Ideally the plans for the evening will be left to you as the class. The 'organization' will only provide a time and location for everyone to meet and catch up briefly. From there the plans are completely open-ended. The Frog, Shop-off's, Oakwood, Pick-wick, Stimulators?, somebody's house. Wherever, whatever. With such a diverse group, this is probably the easiest and most effective way for people to meet up with old friends and actually enjoy a reunion.
Specifics:
Saturday, May 15th, 6:00 pm
There is no such thing as a 'perfect' date for these things. For those of you still in school, hopefully this date will be after classes and before your summer plans. Wawasee High School Commons
I know, I said no gaudy decorated gyms. This is only a meeting area, a chance to see who all actually shows up to this event and an opportunity to invite other people you may have forgotten about to the rest of the night's activities. (There may also be some small paperwork to fill out to compile a more accurate email/AIM list on class members).
Golfing
Someone had mentioned golfing as reunion event. I liked the idea but realized alot of you, (including myself) aren't huge golfers. In any event, if you are in town that Saturday day and would enjoy shooting a couple holes. Show up at South Shore (no specific tee time) and hopefully you'll run into some old friends out on the links (no, the class isn't paying for any of this).
Picnic/Bar-b-q
This event has had an interesting turn of events in the last day or 2. The original planner had some obligations come up which he can't get out of. Instead of cancelling it altogether. I think it can still work out fairly well if people show up at the Syracuse Park between 4 and 4:30 (after golfing if people want to do both). From there we do a quick raid on the grocery store with one person grabbing 5 dollars worth of buns, another person gets 5 dollars worth of meat, and so on. Sure it is un-organized but it's better than not having it. This will also let it work if 5 or 50 people show up.
What we need from you!
Please, please tell your friends about this event. As people scatter after graduation the best way to spread information is through word of mouth. Forward this email/information to as many people you know and start making plans for that evening. If you're generous enough to open your house later that night or you just have a good idea for places to go, feel free to post that information in the www.wawasee-list.net webboards.
If you have anymore questions about the reunion, feel free to email me at skylerspeakman@mindspring.com and I will get back with you as soon as possible.
